CAIC Benefit

Breckenridge, CO: With snow in the forecast and the mountains open for riding, the parking lot outside the Riverwalk Center was packed full of people from all over Colorado this Saturday. The sounds of "The Universally Famous Rocket Surgeons" filled the room as people sampled the food and drinks from local Colorado brewers while checking out the latest in backcountry gear. The benefit brought together all forms of snow sports enthusiasts to help fund the Colorado Avalanche Information Center’s efforts in the backcountry.
Throughout the night, swag flew through the air with reckless abandon and people lined the stage to bid on the many prizes in the silent auction, raising money so the CAIC can continue to provide Colorado backcountry enthusiasts with forecasts and public education. Avalanches kill an average of six people every year in Colorado and their efforts are needed to keep our outdoor playgrounds safer for our journeys.
Thanks go out to those who made the night a success including Joe and Aaron for their hard work.

Downtown Throwdown 08

SEATTLE, WA - In what is becoming the premier pre-season event this side of the Rockies, Snowboy Productions put on another banger edition of the Downtown Throwdown this past Sunday. The event was held on the front porch of the Seahawks' Qwest field and the assembled cast of 20 or so of the top jibbers around put on a performance that might have been more impressive than the Hawks' shellacking of the 49ers the next day. With MC Jesse Burtner of Think Thank handling the mic and Krush and his crew keeping things smooth, early season stoke was flying through the air warm October air while judges Sean Genovese, Jon Kooley, Austin Smith and Darrell Mathes took upon the admirable task of determining a winner. In the end it was Calgarian Jed Anderson taking down first place followed by Jonas Micholot and Ben Biloqc, with Jake Olson-Elm dialing in the best trick. Thanks to everyone involved for spreading the stoke to the masses as winter approaches.

4th Annual Surfrider Benefit
Posted by: Luke Widtfeldt / added: 10.09.2008 / Comments (4)
Few places have the ability to unite people like the beer garden. From swing dancing patchouli scented naturalists to rocked out weekend warriors, everyone can vibe together over a couple of pints. Throw in a little surf rock, gallons of IPA, funk, swag and some environmental activism and you have the Surfrider Foundation's 4th Annual Soundwaves Benefit Concert and Fashion Show.
The Boundary Bay beer garden was hopping this Saturday as people gathered to support the Northwest Straits Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation - and their partner organization Snowrider - and their mission to protect the ocean, coasts, and mountains so they can be ridden responsibly for generations to come. Founded in 1984 by a handful of Malibu visionaries, the Foundation now spans the globe from Brazil to Japan, Australia to France, and maintains 50,000 members from 80 different chapters all dedicated to grass roots activism, research, and education to help maintain the environment. This particular event was focused on raising money for the Mount Baker Green Bus, a biodiesel short bus that will make daily runs to Baker this winter. With the first snows of winter falling overnight it was perfect timing to start thinking about reducing our environmental impact this winter.
Music kicked off in the early afternoon and as night crept in the fashion show featured local boutiques and clothing lines as they worked the catwalk. Patrons enjoyed food from Diego's, brew from Boundary Bay, and raffle and auction gear from a grip of sponsors.
Thanks go out to Anne Baker and Abby with Surfrider, Kyle from Mervin, K2 Snowboards, Sean from Sportsman's Chalet, and the many other volunteers that made it happen.
It's snowing in the mountains. Get ready for winter.

Spacecraft All-Star Sticker Release Party
Posted by: Gary Winberg / added: 10.03.2008 / Comments (0)
Big public parties that have a friends and family type of a vibe are my favorite. In a time when so many things are going amiss in the world, it's great to experience a positive, fun event. The Spacecraft All-Star Sticker Release Party had Seattleites coming out from all over to share in good music, art, stickers, posters, photos, video's, slideshows, bunny sightings and a preview of Frequency TSJ's Photo Book.
The event went down at evo. On the upper mezzanine, Spacecraft set up with collectable art pieces resting on light boxes, posters and oversized graphics on the wall, and the new sticker sheets spread out along a big bench. Downstairs was open for storytelling, poster creation, dancing and consumption of carbonated beverages supplied by Pyramid.
The All-Star Sticker Sheet is a showcase of inspiring humans, who leap buildings in a single bound and discover unicorns in unexplored galaxies. The images collected are not necessarily part of the Spacecraft team, but a group of individuals that continue to push the boundaries within our culture.
We would like to thank all of the photographers that contribute their craft and the "All-Stars" that support the sticker sheet. This is a not for profit project. Revenue created from any sales will support children going to school in Bali.
One of these inspiring humans, DJ Masa was present entertaining us with his DJ skills. His sweet music filled the air all night and kept party goers rollin'. Another friend of the family, Patrick Lennox Wright was conducting his famous photo booth. The background was hand screened by Spacecraft, featuring who we hope to be the next President, Obama. Be sure to check the Spacecraft Gallery for all the photo's from Pat and other contributors.
As the night continued, Ryan Davis and Duffy put on a clinic of hand pulled posters. A crowd quickly gathered to see how the process is done. When all was said and done, 20 one of a kind poster where completed.
Thanks to everyone who came down to partake and share the love.
Check the video.
