Ask Nicolas

Nicolas, I've always been a huge fan of your riding and was interested to read how you stepped back from the contest venue to focus on freeriding. What do you think the next step will be? Freestyle with a splitboard? Bigger, more committed lines? How will you keep finding new inspiration when you've ridden so much terrain around the world?

which way?

do you perfer to spin frontside or backside? Why?
Posted by Matthew Caggiano on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 7:16 am

Ask Nico

Nicolas, first off let me just say I'm a huge fan. Now, you once said that you used to focus on park and contests, but left that scene because it lost its enjoyment and was no longer what it used to be. So how do you keep your current riding style, of free riding and natural terrain, from having the same effect? How do you keep it fresh and exciting, and remain your passion?

Ask Nico

Hi there! I would like to ask you a question. Have you ever heard of snowskating? if yes, did you wanted to try it at some point?
Posted by Chuck on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 7:23 am

Style

Craig Kelly once described his freeriding style as a ball rolling down the terrain, naturally following the flow of the hill and spinning off the drops the way it would naturally spin. How do you envision your runs before you drop in? In other words, how would you describe your style?
Posted by Nikita on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 8:11 am

Fear

How do you get over a fear? Do you have a certain technic?
Posted by Adam on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 8:25 am

Hey Nico!

What up Nico. I always love it when pro snowboarders decide to leave the game of contests and the "spotlight" to achieve more personal goals in snowboarding and in life. In my mind, you are that pioneer. I was curious what your gameplan after snowboarding was? And how do you keep yourself stoked on snowboarding during the summer months??
Posted by Karl on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 8:41 am

Ask Nicolas

Simply put, what has your favorite spot been? Do you have that certain place that keeps you coming back?
Posted by Mark on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 9:33 am

Ask Nico

Hey Nico, how do you personally keep snowboarding real? I mean each year it seams like the snowboarding industry gets more incorporated and we get more boarders out there because it's "the cool thing to do." Any thoughts?

Ask Nico

You're riding has been referred to as some of the best ever in the history of snowboarding and you have the greatest pros in the sport looking up to you. With that, who do you look up to in snowboarding? Past and Today?

Bonus question: (besides yourself) who do you think has the best method?

love snowboard and big fan of u

Nicolas, hi men, nice to meet u! (finally but not in the right way jaj).
Hey im from argentina south america and i love snowboard (still if im not like other riders or like u, but i would like to become one day). I´ve been snowboarding since the past 5 years, and i respect this art, this way of living and enjoying life, and i can do it when i have the cance and money as i live in buenos aires (far away from the Andes Mountains).
Well, i´ve seen lots of videos and read about u, but there´s one video at youtube that i always think of, and that everytime i see it, i like it more and more (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxxSbH5Im44).
I can tell u men that i just think the same as you about snowboarding (there´s way more in snowboarding than contest, 1080, etc), this amazing art (for me snowboarding is a piece of art, beautifull and perfect) and i wish some day i become just like u and also that i could have the chance to ride better and better every year, AHHHHHHHHHHH AND DO IT EVERYTIME AND MAKE IT PART OF MY LIFE, PART OF ME.
After telling u all this i only whant to ask u how do u do it men? how did u had the pasience and time to do it? WHAT CAN U TELL ME TO BECOME A BETTER RIDER? (I ENJOY VERY MUCH RIDE!!!!)

FINALLY : KEEP IT ON MEN, THIS WORLD NEEDS PEOPLE LIKE U WHO TAKE CARE OF THIS PLANET, AND WHO LIVE PRESENT BUT CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE.E.

hugs menn!

I was wondering if you have ever taught a snowboard lesson? Either to friends or professionally. If you were to; what would be the three things you would say?
p.s.-
What do you say to a snowboarder in a three piece suit?
"May the defendant please rise."

Hey Nico. What is your best advice to a novice snowboarder who is absoutely hooked?
Posted by philippe on Aug 18th, 2010 @ 2:36 pm

snowkiting in the next future....

Do you think that in your evolution, you could add the kite like Guillaume chastagnol did and mixed it up to discover more terrain in freeriding....For sure only a few pros like Guillaume choosed this ways whereas most of pros choose a stereotype way. Possibilities are unlimited and i am glad to have seen Guillaume playing with this indredible tool...

What do you enjoy most about your Breathe Foundation? Where do you see the foundation going in the Future? Are you planing to do conservation in the Northern Hemisphere? How do you choose projects? Where do you feel the need for conservation is the most in the world? Thank you for your time. I find your foundation very proactive and inspiring. A great way to conserve the environment and connect the communitey through environment, education and fun. Have a great winter season. B :-)

While snowboarding some unnamed first descent in Alaska, you set of an avalanche. Miraculously you are able to ride out of it, but in the debris you find the proverbial lamp. You rub the lamp and a Genie appears, granting you three wishes. What would those wishes be?

P.S. You can't wish to be a better snowboarder, because that's just not down right fair, if not impossible.
Posted by Rut on Aug 31st, 2010 @ 1:10 pm

Tunes

Do you listen to music when you ride? What songs get you pumped? Do you have "Sickamechanico" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers?
