The Voice is Heavy Metal
Iron Maiden is one of the few bands that speaks to many generations. The voice is heavy metal.
When I told my dad I was going to Iron Maiden, his first reaction was "weren't those guys playing in the 80's?" Well they were. But these guys still rock like they're in their 20's. And they proved it this Monday at the White River Amphitheater. The venue is a fairly nice mid sized theater which holds roughly 20,000 people. The one draw back is that the venue is a half hour from Seattle and has neither camping or lodging near by. This is where K2 came into play as the mighty folks from Seattle, based on the huge number of Maiden fans in their office, rented a school bus for transportation. Yes...a school bus-with a banquet permit (aka you can drink on the bus) and a bus driver with a nickname of ‘Metal', the "K2 bus" left K2 headquarters and arrived at the venue in just over 2hrs with only a single hectic restroom stop.
Once darkness fell, Maiden took the stage, playing galloping song after song in true Maiden fashion. If I hadn't known better I could have sworn that this was just a recording from there greatest hits album. Flashing the freq badge I smooth talked myself into the "photo" section and the rest is like a dream. I was literally 5 feet away from Dave Murray for most of the never-ending set. They played all the classics like The Trooper and Run to the Hills, complete with over the top stage antics and a giant Eddie doll. Leaving the show, I was in awe of what I witnessed and I jumped straight back into the party bus and, beer in hand, headed for home.
Thanks Eric Newgard at K2 for making it happen. You rule.

I hate all of you
But since they played "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" all is well in the world.
